Hippos/Susita. Goal heights district. site of an ancient city.

Don't panic Andrew,we kept to this side of the fence. These are old military areas from the 67 war when Israel took this Golan Heights area from Syria. This looks straight down on the Sea of Galilee and many Israeli farms, settlements etc.
Susita/Hippos. Roman city approx 200bc. First pagan & then Christian. An interesting excavation site on the edge of the Golan Heights. Jane was enthralled & found many pottery shards & some Roman glass pieces. Shelley has already discovered the thrill of finding old Roman and other relics. It was a good hike up into this place, the heat was extreme & Zebadiah had no problems, walking the whole way on his mother's or his Aunty Shells or his cousin Mia's back in his little pack. Didn't he do well!

A pic of a date palm plantation, loaded with unripe dates. Personally I am not a date fan but these here when ripe are absolutely delicious. The horticulture is so diverse huge covered bananas plantations, mangos and other crops. This is an area just below the Golan on the fertile shores of the Galilee
