Whoops

Just another mistake. The pics from round the 'old city,' in Jerusalem should be incoporated under the Jerusalem banner.

The drive into Jerusalem was fast with heavy traffic. Quickly passing through the 'pass,' that leads up to the city where there is a memorial to the action which took place in 1948.

We visited Jerusalem during the afternoon just before 'shabat,' in order to experience the short period at the beginning of 'shabat,' when thousands of Jewish people gather to pray at the 'western wall,' in the Jewish quarter. This was quite a moving experience & we noted that there were many young people present, so there was a lot of joyful rejoicing, song and Jewish dance, along with the prayers to usher in 'shabat.' Unfortunately taking pics is not allowed when the crowds gather round 6 -7pm for the serious prayer time, so our pics are devoid of the huge throng that eventuated just a little later giving an impression that not many participate, this is definitely not the case.

To get to this area we had to pass through the narrow streets of the old city which is full of little shops selling all sorts of things including all the touristy type artefacts. Needless to say the short passage took us many hours!!
